I have a 2stroke CRM250AR (keihin CV carb) in the garage that I really need to sort out.
The basic history (sparing the endless problems I already solved) is this The engine seized. I fit new piston and at the same time fit one size bigger jets to pilot and main. Start the bike she revs through the ceiling - hit the cut out switch - make some adjustments -checking for air leaks etc.. kick her up and she revs through the ceiling again - great way to break in the new piston. come back the next morning and she never started. Days of kicking and fiddling havent helped. I have a spark. fresh fuel is coming through. Any ideas? Could it be that the pilot s too large even though it was one size up? whats the rule of the thumb setting the idle screw *before* starting the bike - after carb strip down. This bike has been out of action for 6 months now You're my only hope

is the slide opening and shutting as you operate the throttle?
unscrew the tickover switch out so the slide falls totally shut. change the jets to standard. new plug. if you have spark and fuel bike should start. I think the carb has been leaking fuel into the engine and the crankcase is full of fuel. float level to high or not shutting off.

It should be a kind of tan or light chocolate brown.

Just another query has the carb been changed and why. I don't think the AR's had a CV carb as standard and wonder if this is where the problems stem from.
