Ohlins for XR650L?

Hi folks
I have an idea to substitute the rear shock absorber of my bike with an Ohlins but after looking at their web site I couldn’t find anything specific for the XR650L(year 2002). Does anybody know if of the products will fit this bike? Maybe the one for XR650R?
Thanks for any advise.

why bother? you just fancy a change?
mine has been absolutely fine in 35,000km around africa with all sorts of loads on the back. I just put a 20% stiffer spring on before leaving home.

A shock for a XR600 will be the same as the 650L.

Hi Rich, you make me envious....anyway
it is not just a fancy idea because sometimes it goes down to the end with that unpleasant bang etc..., the idea of getting a stronger spring will possible solve my problem and save me some notable useful bucks, what type of spring did you get and where?
Thanks in advance and safe ridings!
By the way where are you at the moment?

hi. to avoid bottoming out, I suggest you try increasing the compression damping first. that and landing better :-)

I got the spring from K-Tech in the UK, but its a "standard 20% stiffer XR600" spring so you'd get it via Baja, XROnly etc.

I didn't change the front springs, but changed the oil from 7W to 10W to improve rebound damping. you have to back the compression damping off to compensate, but it puts you mid-range of adjustment for MX tracks and low-end for everything else.

I just got back to the UK last week so I'm looking for a job!

wish you the very best

turn night into day ... HID is the only way! I rode with a guy from the Paris-Dakar and he had two HIDs ... one on the bike and one on his helmet! the police stopped him cos they thought he was a UFO!
