Dominator exhausts

I have two friends that have Dominators with holed exhausts. From a brief web search I've only been able to find details of the Lazer ProDuro and Arrow Paris Dakar replacements. I know Staintune make one too, although it's pretty expensive compared with the competition. Considering how long these bikes have been with us, surely someone else makes a replacement.....?

Does anyone know any alternatives, and has anyone had any experience of fitting either exhausts from earlier model years or perhaps a replacement designed for the XR650L? What modifications need to be made, and is there an affect on the performance (good or bad)?

Stig

hi stig
I have an arrow fitted to a 92 domi. it is very easy to fit and for the money was the best deal out there. it is nice and loud BUT now having covered over 30,000 miles on the bike i wished it were a little more quiet. it scares all the bloody wildlife away when you are travelling and you need to wear earplugs. if you remove the decibel buster from the end it is very anti-social. also the stainless stell aint so stainless. yeah i have only washed the bike twice on the trip but it is corroded. low grade stainless i guess. wash it more often and i guess there will be no problem.
good luck finding the right system

Predator in the UK make stainless pipes for a wide variety of bikes inc. the Dommie. They advertise in the back of MCN.

I used to have a pair of their headers & centre pipe on my DR600. Not sure what their tailpipes are like though as I used a home made one. It fitted well & did it's job.

Thanks for the replies! Both the Arrow and the Predator look good, although the pattern replacement is pretty cheap.....

It's surprising how easily 'stainless' exhausts rust! My new(ish) BSM future extreme (on an Africa Twin) link pipe now looks terrible, although the silencer is mark-free. Must be poor materials they use. Still has to be better than mild steel, though!

I've got the road legal Predators on my NX, they are gauranteed for 10 years, and quite loud. Seem to have opened the gas flow up a bit, and bike pulls well from 2000 rpm. About the same weight as the originals, and took 3 weeks for them to be made, but seem well made

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
