Question nx650 dommi NO START

gday,
i recently got an 1988 nx 650 dommi for free.. the bikes been sitting for 5 years without a kick i baught a few basics to get it started like new battery new plug and air filter gave it a service and put some fresh fuel it kicks and coughs but just dus not start i put fuel in the cumbustion chamber and it started and stoped after a cuple of seconds... my thaughts are sumthing may be wrong with the carby if any1 has any sugestions that would be great... thanks

A very good chance the carbs need to be cleaned. Pull them/it off and soak in carb cleaner. A couple of other things to check are spark and compression, but my guess is gunked up carbs. You can try to spray with carb cleaner while it is still on the bike, but my guess is they need a better cleaning than that.

nx no start

yeh im sure it has spark ive put a new coil and lead and when i put the petrol in the chamber it start!!! but not for long once that petrols burned it stops... if i crank it with the plug out there seems to be compresion so i think il try the carby next.... wats this decompresion lever???

Sounds like the carb to me. Pull it off and soak it in carb cleaner for the recommended time. When gas sits and evaporates it leaves behind a varnish you have to get off since it clogs everything up. Soaking it in carb cleaner will do the trick. Note, the spray stuff will not work it is a special solvent you get at auto part store for it.
