noise when cold...
Hi guys, its me again.
Had my bike running smoothly for almost 2k km now after it been rebuild. but recently after my 1K oil change, everytime I start my bike (NX650 Dommie 1991 model) when its cold/semi cold, it would make a ticking sound, but when its pretty warm the sound is gone. Is this the sound of tappets or what? if its the tappets is it easy to open the topside block? I heard that Dommie are really a pain in the *&%$ cos of the clearance between the frame & the block.![]() Is it true that l have to take out everthing... well almost. & If this is true is there any short cut, and does anybody out there has the settings for my Dommie? I've a got Harley's mechanic friend that wants to help but he's not familiar with Dommie... ![]() Thanx!

Ticking sound
I have read about this on other forums and most folk seem to think it is the operating cam of the automatic decompressor. This cam is located on the cam shaft and, although annoying, shouldn't cause any major problems as it is captive on the camshaft. I should imagine that there are ways to solve the noise problem but it might be expensive both monetarily and time wise.
Hope this helps? Boyd |

Im thinking that the cold oil does not circulate as well as when warm. I have noticed that my bike does the same thing.
