noise from throttle body
have a xl700v with an annoying sound. anyone with any ideas on the following sound issue? the reason I'm trying to figure this out is that I've never had anyhting like it on any of my previous bikes (xl600v, sv650s, f650gs)
Ticking/clicking/rattling is somewhat hollow, more like a higher pitched dakadakadakadaka or drrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr It only happens between 2500/3000 to 4000 rpm On all the gears at the range (3000 to 4000) I only rev like a millimeter It lasts only about 1-1,5 seconds If I rev another mm it appears again for about 1-1,5 seconds It's higher pitched then the deeper normal dakadakadaka sound form the engine It sounds like it's coming from the top area of the engine I can reproduce the sound at idle, but it's harder to do, it's less pronounced then and don't last the full second. It's quite/very pronounced when driving It only happens when the engine is properly warm. Doesn't happen the first 5 minutes of driving. sounds pretty much like this at 0:21 and 0:23-0:24 - most like 0:23-0:24 YouTube - ‪Chris' XR2 Throttle Bodies Induction Noise‬‏ |
