]hi all here,s my 650, i have just done a lap of morocco on it , just thought it might give other,s an idea as how to carry everything, all the racks jerrycan holders are home built, the ortileb panniers hold about 20 ltrs each and are for bicycles but they were cheap and i had no problems with them , as long as you don,t overload them, also the fixings for the rack are minimal, just need to totake extra mounts , as if you crash i think they would break quite easily £10 a set!! with this set up the bike felt quite stable even off road and returned 20k,s a litre at a sensible cruising speed 80,90 k

Nice one! Interesting jerrycan fixtures by the bashplate, more pics please of the bags and your fixing setup...(were you lugging camping kit in there?).

hi there mate, i will take some more photo,s of the rack and bashplate set up and get them up loaded, i looked at an african queen,s bash plate, but the cost was prohibitive around 500 euro,s it was aluminium but as i am not a dakar racer i thought i could live with the extra kilo of weight, mine is made out of 3mm steel , i wanted the jerries down low to keep it stable, glad i had them as well ,because there was a petrol shortage in southern morocco when i was there. i only carried light stuff in the panniers as they have their limitations as to what they can carry

How did the subframe react to that much way? any special problem with it or did you reinforce it before loading it.

hi there mate, well i know the xr subframe dose not take kindly to being over loaded, so i ran some steel supports down the sides to triangulate the the shape of the subframe, admitadly i was not carrying a massive amount of weight, i will try and load some more close up photos of my set up
