Motocross gear lever on 600 Transalp??

I have a bent gear lever on my 1993 600 Transalp and was wandering if I could fit a motocross lever rather than the £30+ original from Honda or would it be too big/long?

If so, what/where can I get one that would fit?

XR lever

From memory I think the gear lever from an XR80 fits the Alp and it has the folding end. I'm sure they can be had via ebay for less than Mr Honda is asking. Best check on some of the TA specific sites in case I'm wrong though!

I've been meaning to do the same mod to my TA for ages so thanks for the reminder!

gear lever

touratech do an aftermarket gear lever for the africa twin with a springy bit on the front(you know what i mean) for £28. it does'nt list one for the transalp though but i thought they'd be the same.(check first)! failing that you could take your old one to your nearest breakers and match something up as they break everything and not just road bikes. hope this helps.

I used an Africa Twin gear lever on my TA that was hinged. It fitted straight on, same length, and worked very well.

Aren't all the AT gear levers hinged?

Yes The Africa Twin lever fits nicely.

Problem solve fitted a AT gear lever and found out why the TA leaver was a pain. It had been bent inward by at least 2-3cm. So just been out on it with MX boots on it's great:thumbup1:
