IMO wiring and XR650L??

Hello folks. I'm having a bit of trouble with the wiring for my IMO dash, and I was hoping for some suggestions (possibly from you Jerome or AndyBee?).

Everything but the rev counter works. I have followed the instructions, and wired the lead directly into the low-tension lead above the ignition coil. The wire is continuous (tested with a multimeter) all the way to the PCB.

I have also played with the potentiometer as much as possible, and discovered that I can't get *any* rev readout at all! (With either low-ten wire or potentiometer messing). What am I doing wrong?? Where does the rev-counter wire attach?

The instructions say "wire 1 from the ignition", but does this mean the CDI, the switch, or the coil??

HELP! I want to get my shift light working properly!!

Thx.
