How to start a HondaXR600R
 

I have a 1995 Honda XR600R that has been sitting for a year and when i tried to fire it up last week i couldn't even get the kickstart to turn over. Does this mean that the engine has seized up?

not necessarily seized, big singles arent easy to kick over especially after sitting a year, if i was you would have carb off clean jets, new or clean plug, drain all old fuel ,check and clean air filter and have another go, if still no success would bump start it ,either big hill or slow tow behind car , bump in second gear or third, might be ab idea to pour very small amount off oil down cylinder, (dribble) , and if no go then its seized hope that helps

ps make sure youve got spark and fuel flowing

also i would use the decompressor to kick the bike over a few times . a bit of easy start spray is always good aswell for a poor starter but not too often. if you have a spark that will start it:thumbup1:
and its best to always start using decomprssor lever to get to tdc the a nice firm kick good luck and dont wear boots at your peril:eek3:

hope u got ur bike started...sorry to bother u but i"ve got a xbr500(big single) ur engine spec wiring etc are very similar to xbr ..have u got a manual for ur bike or could i pick ur brains on some info please.
