Honda XL185

I'm on the verge of buying a 1981 Honda XL185, with relatively low miles (15000), a known history and for sensible money. I mainly intend to use it for long distance trials, but it's tempting to go travelling on it...

Any known bugs or issues with this machine?

I recognise the machine's limitations in terms of its age and relatively small engine capacity (although both subjects debatable/debated), just wondering if there are any serious bugs associated with this model.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Ian.
Don't suppose the trials you mention happen to be the 3 MCC trials(Exeter,Lands End,Edinbro')? If so i'd think this will be more than a good test to see if it can hold up to travelling on it.Nice light bike that, ideal for finding out where that track goes to....
If you're doing next year's Exeter,i'll be marshalling at the top of Simms.I'm the one with the silly grin on my face!

Those three events which I do every year (I'm the Tenere rider with the broken clutch cable - thanks for the lift).

I've also signed up for the ACTC series. Be kind with the pen on Simms....

Cheers,

Ian.
