Honda XL 600 LM BROKEN CAMSHAFT!!

Hi!

I wrote the other day asking about valve clearances for my Honda XL 600 LM, but now nothing of it makes sense. We were repairing a broken subrocker arm, and yesterday, when we finished and started the bike, the CAMSHAFT BROKE...yes, it broke...I didn't even know that could happen!!

Our best guess is that it was already half broken and it caused the subrocker arm to break. Anyway...now the problem is that the XL600 is an old bike (1987) and we cannot find that part, so we are thinking about using an XR600 camshaft...if it fits...

Does anybody know if that part would fit?? Both engines use RFVC head, but I don't know if the camshafts will be the same...in the worst case, would an entire RFVC XR600 head fit in the XL600 engine??

I don't know, I am pretty lost now, I have never had such a big issue with a motorbike...any help will be appreciated...

¡¡Thanks a lot!!

see ya!

Nadir,
If you haven't figured this out yet, check the Adventure Rider website. Several of the guys on there have done full rebuilds and modifications of the XL600, including major engine component swaps between the XL and XR.

The XL600 thread - ADVrider

Good luck,

Mike
