Dommie shock..

Hi there, been lurking here a while, but I have a question now about the rear shock on my dommie, needs replacing anyway and as I'm starting to prep the bike for an overland trip I'm curious to know if anybody has any recommendations for a replacement?

hi jera
i have useda hagon rear shock for the last 17,000 miles (im on the way from alaska to argentina) it was a good price but i have had problems. i bent the top mounting point probably by hitting lots of stealth speed bumps in mexico. as a result it also leaked oil after a time. hagon were excellent once they knew i had a problem. they despatched me a new unit for free as the old one was in the 2 year warranty period. i am a little pissed off that it bent but the service was excellent an the shock was the cheapest at 240 quid. as for the performance, on a fully loaded bike its fine. happy shopping

Hi Oz, thanks for the reply, I was considering the Hagon but wasn't sure if it would be up to the job. I think you've convinced me!
Happy trails & ride safe,
J.

Hello,

Im sure that the original would do, just get a stiffer spring... if that would fail, pick this up before u go for 1 euro and bobs ur uncle!

I dont think it matters that much which shock you get, I actually got an aftermarket from technoflex that cost me quite a bit and ofcourse it failed on me! I know of others, diffent shock, same story. Having one on the shelf back home ready for shipment/deployment seems to be me most cost reasonable / effective...

Interesting, the Ohlins dealers I spoke to here claimed they don't make one for the Dominator, I wondered if the XR shock would fit instead. But the Hagon is a lot cheaper than either the OEM or Ohlins, and has good aftersales support...

Thanks alot for all your replies.

J.
