Decent Seat wanted - what are my options

Hi folks,

I'm looking to buy a replacement seat for my AT RD04 .. it needs to be suitable for 2 and darn comfortable... any ideas - suggestions, very welcome ...

I have the standard seat, plus a airhawk and sheepskin... still didn't stop the sleeping balls syndrome...(good job I don’t want kids I guess) …

Salut Matt

There are several options of getting it professionally done BUT! they are a lot of money and not IMHO really worth it..
I suggest
New New Seat - Honda Trail Bike Forums

do that and then just take the seat to a local automotive upholsterer and they will make a new cover for it..

good luck

How can you ride when something is sliding around under you? :eek3:

i dont know about sargeant seats but i was really unimpressed with corbin when i bought a "gunfighter" (stupid name) for my sportsbike a few years ago.
it was very expensive
it weighed a tonne
it didnt fit, the seat lock would not latch
it rubbed the paint
the leather was very poor quality and already had marks in

i sent it back and had my original seat reshaped to what i wanted, it was a superb job and a third of the cost. where i had it done have retired to the sun now, good for them but bad for us they were real pros, bumwraps in bognor regis.

i agree with patrick above, custom made is the way to go and not as expensive as you think

Trust me, for a dual sport bike or Trailie like an Africa Twin,

never heard of renazco, american brand i assume? but then so are corbin so someone is probably selling them this side of the pond.
i hope they are better value than corbin, the seat for my GSX was £350, back then nearly $700US!

UPDATE;
just had a look on renazco website, they look pretty nice. a full suede seat tailor made to your measurements is $400, an off-the-shelf corbin seat for my varadero is $430. trouble is, change the dollar sign to pounds and thats how much they cost here :0(

rip off britain strikes again!

some of which I've heard in person, from guys riding on the seat.

I'll back Mollydog up on the renazco seats, best i've ever used and i've tried quite a few different solutions.

If one ever comes up used on any web forum grab it, I did for my KTM and was so impressed that I bought a new one for my XR650R. Not cheap by the time you've shipped from the USA but quality never is

To do an XT seat you would have to mail your old seat to him, unless he can get hold of one locally. We haven't had XT's since 1990.

Patrick :scooter:

if its over 18 sterling in value they will, yes, we've got a scottish bloke in charge now, with his fake eyebrowed conman croney "darling" wedged firmly between his buttocks. i dont think it will be long before we pay tax on the tax.

i haven't even got the XT out of the garage for months, i just used the varadero as an example for price. cant see why anyone would want to change the seat on a varadero
