CRF250L Lowering Kit
 

Does anyone have any experience with lowering a Honda CRF250L?
Which lowering kit did you use and did you do anything else at the same time?
And what difference did it make to the seat height?

Yes I had found his website earlier today but would rather not drill holes in the shock to make it lower!

I have found 2 different lowering kits so far but don't know what the differences are between them and they are both around the same price!

In my opinion, if 1,75" is enough I would go with the kouba.
If you need lower go with the Soupy.
I do think the (needle) bearings on the kouba are better....

The problem is that I don't know how much lower I need it! As standard I am just missing out on being on point with both feet and if I slide my bum off the seat I get my left toes on the ground.

I think that the Kouba one looks better but don't really know much about this sort of thing! Same price and both from USA so that doesn't make deciding any easier!

As a rider with lowered suspension myself, I also got the CRF250L and found it a just a tad high. When I looked into drilling the lower shock bracket as described in the above link, I found that this would have dropped the seat way too much. I made myself a new lower bracket, it just screws on to the shaft of the shockie, and any decent engineering shop could knock one up for bugger all. I made mine with the hole 4mm higher up, which dropped the seat 20mm, then raised the fork tubes 20mm as well. This makes it much better for my short legs. With that ratio of 5 to 1, drilling the lower mount 25mm (1") higher would drop the back end 125mm (5"), although with the movement in the linkages it wouldn't be that much, but it certainly alter your suspension performance.

did you ever lower your crf, and if so how did it go ?

stevenatleven - Still looking at the CRF250L as a potential travel bike but our trip is a few years away so we currently have a DRZ400 which we are going to lower so that we can both use it!

I lowered my CRF250l about 3 months ago and I am pleased with the results.
It was easy to do in my case because I bought a lowering link and a shortened side stand from a dealer who was putting a CRF back to standard.
I find it easier to get on and off the bike and if I am on uneven terrain
or on the wrong side of a camber etc the lower height gives extra confidence and security.

Hi Steven, did you use the Kouba link solution? if so how much lower is the shortened side stand?

I wondered if the CRF250M sidestand is shorter?

I did use a Kouba link. i was unable to compare the side stands as I posted mine out before the other arrived.
the M model has smaller wheels so might be worth a try.

I wouldnt use a Soupy link, they break!
