Changing Sproket Sizes
Hi folks,
Seeking some wisdom about changing the sprocket set-up on my 1979 CB750K LTD. The original set-up is a 15 tooth front and a 38 tooth rear. As there is no room to put a larger front the only option is to put on a smaller rear. Honda lists no smaller sprockets, although the CB750F has a 35 tooth rear that may be compatible. I'm trying to bring the RPM's down by somewhere between 750 - 1000 RPM i.e. achieve same highway speed at lower RPM's Currently I find that the comfortable RPM is 3500 for cruising and this sets me at just over 80 KPH. Ideally 100KPH at 3500RPM would be ideal. Anyway the bike has plently of low end power and feels like it needs another gear on the highway. I intend to ride from Vancouver down to central america and want to get the bike set-up for longer trips. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as even the local honda dealers arent much help. Cheers Limee |
