Changing forksprings xrv750
Any tips out there on what springs I should buy? I think the stock ones are to soft, but maybe they only are worn out. I dont know. Some guy told me progressive springs is the way to go,but i hope someone can give me a recommendation here.

Can't recommend on the @ specifically., by I have previously bought progressive springs and they have been fine.

I have also previously, cut about 4-5 cm from the more tightly coiled end and then put another spacer of the same length, or perhaps 1cm longer. This increases the "rate" of the original spring, without the expense of a new one.

I have done this on a VFR400 and CB-1 with good results.

LonelyBiker,

Hello. I hope all is well. I am in the same 'boat'. I live in the US and own an '91 XRV750. I hope to replace the fork seals soon and wish to replace the fork springs while the seals are replaced. I've telephoned Progressive Suspension and Works Performance and neither had a spring for the AT. Race Tech offered to help if I delivered the AT to their shop at Corona, CA. I've considered shipping a set of springs from the UK (wemoto.com). Since my AT is in Ohio at this time, I leaning towards a set from the UK. Please let me know if you find an American resource for a comparable stock replacement or upgrade.

Fork Oil ?
Other than the replacement of the springs with progressive types, the cutting of other springs to fit, the only thing I can suggest is putting heavier fork oil in. If its 5w put in 10w or 15w.

Putting better springs in is by far the best option in my book though.

OK, here are some details. I changed my springs to the Wilbers Progressive some years ago, AT, 93.

It is a real difference, 100% better, but its not really a stree racing bike... but its only about 80€. Its totally worth the change. And the change itself its not rocket science...

I changed my main spring as well (300€) and now it fits for the trip... I told them how many kg I want to load and they produced a spring for me and revised the rest of it ...

BikerIN, Thanks for the Wibers springs recommendation and link to Zietech. I contacted them and learned the Wilbers springs are currently discounted 20%.

LonelyBiker - Zietech will ship the Wilbers springs to the USA. I am ordering a pair and will ship to Ohio. Perhaps we can consolidate shipping if you are interested.

we run our bikes with Hyperpro, only changed the springs front and rear.
They also recommend SAE15 in the forks.

We like the setup as it is now, and Hyperpro gives great service/warranty!
