Chain and sprockets for AT in USA
I have just had a very interesting morning. I am currently in Nashville and trying to get a new chain and sprockets for my bike. The AT is a european motorcycle and the shops here seem to have no idea what parts to put on it.
This can not be a new problem so how is everyone else getting around this. What parts are you puttin on your AT. Should I get spare chain and sprocket sent over from the UK to keep as spare and keep me on the road. This experience this morning left me thinking what over spares am i not going to be able to get hold of easily on this trip. *update* I have ordered a new chain which is 530 instead of 525. THis will keep me on the road for a while longer. Does anyone know if this will be a major problem? I look forward to any help and advice people can give me. Kind regards Paul "some problems are nice problems to have" Last edited by paul_r; 26 Jul 2006 at 00:05. |

Some Tips...!!!
Hi Paul
The AT isn’t imported official to the states, It will be a big adventure to get a that for the AT. Use a 530 instead a 525 its better to don’t have anything to put, but some or few bike in US use the 525 but shorter than the 124 link like our AT use. Bikes like the Shadow VLX, Transalp and Varadero Use 525. If you will use the 530 chain I give you a tip. The CBR600 F2 use the same “front sprocket centre” but is 530. Doesn’t fit whit the 525. For the rear the only choice is the 525 Rear sprocket in 44Z from the ‘90s Honda Shadow 600VLX. Work well and you will low the RPMs. Better for the US HWYs. Hope to be usefully.
