1990 Domminator Fuel Tank

I'm trying to track down an acerbis tank to fit my 1990 NX 650. Acerbis tells me that the tanks they have don't fit and that a xr600 tank won't either.
I'm somewhat confused as I thought if one removed the fairing one of these would fit?
Anyone know different?

I have an '88 with a big Acerbis tank. If there's a model number anywhere I can look for you. Have a look here: NX650 and you can see that you definitely do *not* need to remove any fairings.

Feel free to drop me an email if you want me to measure anything or get you a model number. In the UK I have always found the Bert Harkins catalogue very helpful - want me to give you a rundown of what they list?

HTH :-)

You kindly said, you'd have a look and see the serial number on your Acerbis tank.
Acerbis sent this email to me.
If you can help, I'd be eternally grateful!!!
Thanks.
Regards, Toby

Just let me have this number and we will try to understand which model

part numbers

There are 2 fuel tanks listed by acerbis for the Dominator, both are 23 litre capacity and both are black in colour.
'92-'94 is part no. 0001589.090
'95-'02 is part no. 0001603.090
No mention is made of the need for seat mods or removal of fairing so i'd assume it's simply a bolt-on-and-away-you-go job.

I've got a 1990 model bike and Acerbis says that the '92 model on tanks will not fit.
You'd think they'd know the answer but from what I've read else where I need to get a special production run done ($$$$) of the pre '92 tanks to get one - I find this hard to believe so thought someone might know the answer.
They tell me an XR600 tank won't fit either which I find hard to believe.

You know what,i would'nt mind betting that a '92 on tank would fit your '90 bike with a small amount of modification.I'd be very, very surprised if the bike frame is different(along with the mounting points),i'd have a guess that the main difference is fairing or seat related, something that a little thought and effort can overcome surely?
