I own a 2000 AT and have got 56,000 miles on it.My first fuel pump went at 30,000 miles and i fitted a 'solid state' pump with low psi (4-7).I should have left it on as it ran great.I got offered a genuine pump and snatched it up but should have stuck with the 'solid state' pump as it was much more reliable. my second pump has just gone at 56,000miles and i will never buy another genuine one.Ive ordered another solid state pump available at any decent car supply store,they are simple and easy to fit straight onto the wiring of the existing loom.

My AT is on 27,000 miles and I'm off at the end of the year on a RTW. So I'm thinking I should at least take a spare, if not change the fuel pump before I leave. How are the pumps rated? The consensus seems to be that I can stick in anything that physically fits?

And if I stick in a fuel pump from a Porsche will my AT go faster ? http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/wink.gif

Dude, replace the pump, it going to go I reckon and it's a real pain in the bum when it does. By the sound of it, its a good idea not to go for the genuine replacement.

Dont go for 'anything that fits' as your rplacement pump.Go for a low psi pump as if you go for anything thats got to high a psi rating you'll run into other problems with the fuel being delivered to fast for the carbs to handle.A pump with a(4-7psi)will do fine as the AT only just needs a pump and ive had the bike running fine on itin the past so i know that when i put the solid state pump on again i wont be waiting for the thing to go like iwas when i fitted the original Honda pump on knowing there was a known problem with them.
