Not nececery in my opinion. If the pump fails, and it probably will not, you can 'short-cut' the fuel-line. (bring a cupling-tube). The only drawback is that the last few liters of fuel wil remain in the tank (the carb's are higher).
Anyway, in 50% of the fuelpump failure it's the relay and not the pump. You can also hotwire this.
