Africa Twin end can

Hi,

Just fitted a centre stand to my AT (2000 model), but the exhaust was in a more rusted state than I thought. I need to replace it (ideally before Saturday....), can anyone recommend a new end can that is:

1) same (or minimal increase) noise output as standard can
2) lighter than standard end can (I guess they all are)
3) has no (or minimal increase) performance gain

I'm not looking for a louder, 'better', end can, just replacement for the standard.

cheers,

Try looking at the advert forum on http://www.xrv.org.uk as there's usually someone selling their original exhaust after buying a 'racier' one.

Alternatively check out the Enduro Alumilite exhaust from Arrow, http://www.arrow.it. A bit more grunt and way less noise than most aftermarket end cans. Available from B&C Express at http://www.bandcexpress.co.uk.

Hope that helps.

Iain

The Arrow can looks like what i'm after. The B&C website only seem to list two 'race' exhausts by part number. I've emailed them for more info.

arghh...they are out of stock till 'possibly' September, though they don't appear to know if they'll get more AT exhausts in the delivery.

cheers

I replaced the end can on my RD04 with a Laser pro-Duro road silencer. It ran exactly the same as before with no rejetting and was very quiet. So good in fact that I've just ordered one for my 2000 model AT which is also rusted to f***k.

Hi,

where did you order it from? Been quoted £277 by Merlin Performance, with a two week delivery period. But they say it's listed as fitting the RD07 up to 1998. I'm assuming there's no difference between a 2000 and a 1998 model RD07 (a)?

cheers,

Sorry for the delay in replying. My pipe arrived and is now fitted. I reckon it's half the weight of the original which was falling to bits. I got mine from M&P and it was about £180 for the silencer plus £100 for the connection piece.

It's no noisier than the original and I've done 200 miles and found the only difference in performance is that it now ticks over more smoothly and picks up easier from lower revs. I think this is just because it was blowing slightly before. I also had to get rid of the rear most triangular bracket as the new silencer bolts to the frame where the bracket used to be. It is the only clean bit of my bike. the instructions just said XRV750 93 onward.
