Adding an oil cooler?
 

I'm interested in the possibility of adding an oil cooler to my Honda XR650L.

I know it's been done, but I've not come across any detailed info, can anyone help?

I was about to do that too but one thing didn´t like me about the position:the extra heat around the cockit area.
I put an Citroen 2CV oilcooler on the side of the engine.It is biger(more oil circulating) and has bigger cooling area.
Temperature droped from 110-120 to 80-95º cel. summer riding.no leaking or problems at all.The thing was 10 pound in cost.Did the proteccion myself.
I would only recomend cooling the oil on this "boiler".

With a bit of luck I'm getting a sump guard/toolkit (can you hear me DJOROB?! :-), that I'd like to get fitted before going any further, but that setup looks really good.

What was the deal with extra fuel capacity? Did you fill the system to see how much you'd have to add to the current capacity?
Can you still use the dipstick measurement?

Also, I take it you've got a temp dipstick..?
Which one did you get? I was looking at a couple of Ebay, not sure which one to go for..

No changes on oil level
 

Remember that the oil reservoir is on top of pump and cooler.So it shouldn´t change the level.The oil is circulating all the time and filling the reservoir.Much cooler the oil circulates the longer the oil qualitys will last.
I purchased the gauge from germany(ebay).I don´t like farenheit!!!there are some us products too.

This is the one i purchased last year! thats the reason i put the cooler later,hahahaha.
I measured the quantity last oil change.It was about 400 ml more.
Any thing you need PM and we can work it out together.
