650 TA reg/rec

I have experience of the reg/rec going on my Honda bros a few years ago, (same motor) and i would like a beefier unit one on my transalp outfit. the main reason for concern is that I'm running a bigger battery (17Ah) and more lighting.
Is there a bigger reg/rec that would be suitable? I'm well up on electrics/electronics but would like an off the shelf unit for spares supply.

Are you having problems with reg/rec on a 650 Alp???

I haven't heard of this being a problem on the Alp, it ocassionally crops up on the A/T's.
There are many who are running allsorts of accesories without problems.

Sorry can't be of any help.

No probs as of yet,

my concern is that as i will be running extra lighting due to possibly riding in the dark, in snow, in the artic circle, in winter, that the reg/rec be robust enough.
i wonder if the reg/rec is the same as the AT? would make sense.

A friend with a 650 Alp is running 2* 55w spots permanently on (with bike lights), along with phone charger, h/grips and an intercom. No probs in 20,000mls.

Not sure if it is the same unit as fitted to the Africa's, which seem to suffer ocassional failures.

Why not purchase a stock 650 reg/rec as a spare, if it's failure is a concern?

hi

I may well do that.

I just like the idea of having an overspec'd unit in the first place. thanks for your thoughts!
