Atwoke (Jens) signing out.

I'm Kate who travelled with Jens in South America between May and July 2006.

Unfortunately I'm writing with very sad news. Jes was involved in a serious accident at work on the 2nd November and unfortunately died later that day. The Health and Safety Executive are trying to find out what happened but it appears that he got caught in one of the machines at the factory.

I'm trying to let people know incase he had offered to help people out or send information as I know how involved with the Hubb he was.

As a result, his bike will be for sale in Santiago. More information to follow on that one.

Thank you to everyone who knew him. He enjoyed the travelling so much and even more so as he made so many friends through Horizons.

If anyone would like to send a message to his family, please reply and I will forward messages on.

Thanks
Kate

Jens gave me some ideas via e-mail about visiting Northumberland this past summer. He didn't know me but was warm and welcoming. Please express my deep sympathies to his family and friends.

Jens Memorial Service

Thank you so much for all your messages. Jens would be so pleased that so many people thought so well of him. I will collate all the messages and pass them on to Jens family.
A memorial service has been arranged for anyone who wishes to attend. It is to be held at the Parish Church in Bellingham, Northumberland at 1.00pm on Thursday 16th November. If anyone is able to attend it would be good to see you however I realise it would be a long journey for most!
We are waiting from word from his family about flowers or donations and I will post another message a soon as I hear anything.
Thank you once again and I will pass on all your messages to Jens family
Best wishes
Kate

Kate,

I have been in contact with mario in santiago for the last few days abut buying a yamaha xt 600e recently owned by a ¨jens¨ I imagine this is no coincidence, and am deeply saddened to know i may be purchasing the bike of a recently deceased rider. That being said, do you know if the proceeds form the sale will be going to the family? If this is so, I will feel better knowing the money is going to be helpful to those in mourning. Please let me know, and pass on my condolences to the family, as this tragic news to hear. Thanks

Bobby

Hello Katee
I only spent a couple of weekends with Jens, and gained some great memories that will never be forgotten. He will be a huge loss to use all.
He was a canny lad, a real credit to his family, and an ambassador for his country.
He was passionate about motorcycling, and loved to meet and have a beer or two with the people that ride them.

Debs and I will be at the service on Thursday

my Condolences to all who were close to him.

Iain

Thank you

Hi all
Just a quick note to say thank you to everyone for their support and messages over the last couple of weeks. In particular, thanks to those that were able to make it to Jens' funeral last week. It was great to see so many bikes outside the church and to meet you all.
Looking forward to the meet in January
Thanks again
Kate and Jens' family
