Anyone who was in Goa (bike rental advise)

I’m going to Goa and planning to rent Enfield for 3 weeks. I reviewed many post, many comments but didn’t find any with address or phone number of worth recommending place.
Does it mean there are hundreds of good motorcycles rentals? No problem to find Enfield?
Can anybody recommend any rental?
Please advise!

Thx,
Michal

cell phones in Iran

In Iran at the moment, and having issues with the mobile phone service.

I can *usually* not send SMS (text messages) to international numbers.
I can *never* receive SMS/texts sent from people in other countries (have tried UK & Greece, multiple networks)

Got an IranCell SIM here, that otherwise seems to work ok.

Anyone have experience with resolving this? Local shops seem to be clueless and resort to switching back and forth between different IranCell SMS centers (not surprisingly to no avail), while IranCell customer service is as helpful and efficient as any other mobile phone operator... i.e. impossible to deal with.

Any clues?

Hey, just arrived in Hanoi from Saigon and need to sell my Minsk. The package includes a helmet, luggage racks, tons of spare parts and tools, and the bike itself. No problems with the bike itself on the ride except needed to replace the spark plug in Hue - the rest of the trip was uneventful! Also had an engine overhall in Saigon before I left. Give me a call at 01286681526 or at johnbeaty (at) gmail .com. Cheers!

We're having a re-think about our route back to the UK from India.
We were going to go back through the same countries as we passed though to get here just different route but now have had the seed set in our minds about shipping to east Africa, riding directly west and up the west coast to Morocco.
Is this feasible with 2 months planing while we are still on the road in southern India without great internet access, not travelled in Africa before and also need to ship/sea not air, a cargo ship that will take us both as well as our motorcycles because I don't fly !!!!!!!!!
What do ya think guys and gals?

Kerman to Multan overland in own vehicle

Dear fellow travellers

I am currently in Iran with my family en route to India on own vehicle. The situation in Pakistan is not very encouraging at the moment but we still plan to go ahead since our route is far from the worst affected areas. Before we move forward we would like to get your feedback on the following:

Were to stop overnight between Kerman and Multan since our maximum daylight reach is around 500-800km and we also need to cross a border?

What is your general security advice for our family once we are in Pakistan and should we be safe once in Multan and Lahore?

Is there anyone that is planning to go the same route on own vehicle in the next couple of days that is willing to join us?

Best regards from Shiraz,
GMS

buying a (non-enfield) bike in india

So I found a lot of information about buying an Enfield on the HUBB, but think for maintenance and ease of repairs going with a small 200cc Honda etc. would make more sense for me. I rode around Vietnam on a 150 step through for about 10 days and loved it. Does anyone have any info about this? Ideally I would want to buy a bike, ride around for 2-3 months and then sell the thing back.

Any pertinent advice would be appreciated.

Hi,
Off to Hanoi in a couple of weeks. I'm planning on renting a small bike there (avoiding the hassle off having to sell it at the end) and ride around for a month. I haven't had much time to prepare this trip but I'm planning to head west from Hanoi to the Sapa region, do a loop from there to Halong bay and then head down south... I would like to avoid the big roads, keeping it rural as much as possible. Has anybody got good tips on the routes to follow?? I got myself a periplus country map which is not very detailed, will by regional maps once there...
Any tips more than welcome
Many thanks

Please nee Help...on buying a bike in Thailand

Hi I am from the UK and I will be leaving in 3 weeks (with my girlfriend) for a 3 month trip around SEA... first Vietnam then Thailand and Laos, then India.

After Vietnam we would like to buy a bike in Thailand (possibly in Chiang mai)

Please can someone advise me on best place to buy, what sort of bike, documents I bring with me from UK, and what documents I will need to get there, for touring as well as exporting or selling.

The ideal plan I think, would be to start from Chiang mai Thailand, and hopefully in one week, I will be able to find a bike and get it registered; then we would like to ride for 4 weeks into Laos, then cross back into Thailand heading towards Bangkok, then ride down to Phuket / Krabi...and finally bring the bike to KL ,from where it will be shipped out (to Italy)

Then we will fly back to Bankgok and continue our trip to India.

Any advice much appreciated

Cheers,
Ryan

Hi, we would like to leave our U.K registered bike in Cambodia, travel to Vietnam and rent one there to travel about on for a month - return to Cambodia, and carry on south.

Is it possible to exit cambodia without the bike and leave it there? Anyone know about entering Cambodia, is it carnet or temp import?

If anyone has done this, where is a good place to store the bike in Cambodia for a month?

Any help greatly appreciated.
