I rang Carol Nash (brokers) regarding bike insurance for morocco.

They mentioned
Group Armour have cover - no premium/additional for travelling to Morocco
Aviva Premier bike charge 10-£18 (depending on length of stay) on top of the cover price
Zenith have 3rd party only in Morocco and charge £30 for th trip (2 weeks)
Aviva Paramount have 3rd party only and charge £10-20 on top of their normal premium (depending on length)

Cancellation policy's for group armour are £25 if cancelled within 14 days so would this mean you can get the insurance, ride in morocco for 2 weeks and cancel the policy then rely on your 'normal' insurance in Europe? is it illegal to be over insured?

longer dates for cancellation are within 1 month if premuim was £200 you would get 200-70 = 130*0.75 = £97.5 so a similar price to seperate cover in Morocco (90 euros)

I'v got today info from Tenezrouft about my schedule of visit in Algeria.
They told: south is safe, but in north is unsafe and we have to keep main roads and no wild camping.
However in algerian embassy told: you can drive without guide in north.
So what do you think about dangerous in Algeria. I was in many african and asian countries and I underestand what mean "dangerous", but I don't know what to think about this??
I really think that Marocco is more "unsafe" that Algeria.
First time in my life in Tunesia I have attempt of burglary in my car (only car lock damged). If this is usafe it is no problem.
Please help me friends.

Hi,

Where is motorbike insurance available in Morocco now, 2 years ago they had moved it from the border to tetoun (IIRC) and we spent 1 day trying to find the offices and sort it out.

Also does anyone know the cost for 2 weeks?

Can I just ask what the deal is with money in Morocco? Sorry, not been since 2001. I haven't used travellers cheques in years but is it worth taking these rather than bringing Euros with you? Am not anticipating problems but have fond memories of pickpockets on trains etc last time.

I'm planning on taking some Euros with me, but assume you can just get Dirhams out the hole in the wall using Cirrus etc? Any particular cards to avoid taking etc?

Cheers

Directions, GPS, Opening hours: Mauretanian Embassy in Rabat?

Hi
I found this address for the Mauretanian Embassy in Rabat, Morocco on a website somewhere. Is this correct? Do you know their opening hours? Any one got GPS coordinates or have directions from distinct landmarks in Rabat?

Mauritanian Embassy
6, rue Thami Lamdawar
Souissi
B.P. 207
Rabat
Morocco
(+212) (537) 65 66 78
(+212) (537) 65 66 80
ambassadeur@mauritanie.org.ma

I'll be visiting them to get a visa on my way south in December. What's required apart from money? How many passport photos? Anything else like a LOI or other similarly pointless Arbeitsbeschaffungsmasnahme?

Thanks for your input.
Chris (if you're in that part of the world around 20th Dec, look out for a beaten up black Honda Transalp.)
