My bike is a BWM 1200 GS ADVENTURER...
its a 2006 November model.

It's been running perfectly up until this morning when I was just about to go into Ecuador and its dead as a door nail.

Key points
1) Was working perfectly up until this morning
2) I just parked to get my passport stamped
3) Came out put the key in... nothing...
4) If I leave it for a while and try and turn it on the lights on the ignition display come on....note there is no errror code...but as soon as I press the starter it just dies totally...totally absolutely nothing on the display and it stays like that for a good few minutes
5) I tried jump starting it... no joy...if just makes a noise like its just about to start the process of turning over and dies......

Help!!!!!!!! the bike is stuck between ecuador and Colombia in no mans land!!!

I don't have many specifics as to where I want to go, and what I want to do, but I know I want to do a big loop around South America. I would expect such a trip to take somewhere around 6 months... I don't know if I could afford to do any more than that. I would really like to ride my bike back up, just because I really can't imagine parting with it.
I feel like spending a little time before the trip to make sure I've got the right person with me is important. I'm not sure if this is someone that would come with me for the entire trip, or maybe we would part ways at some point and do something different. I definitely want someone nearby when I get break my leg during a head on collision with a cow, first to take pictures, but also to get me to safety. I would hope you're looking for the same thing.

A little about me:
I'm 23 years old. I live in San Francisco. I ride a KLR 650 (2009). I like to work on my own bike. I currently work doing IT work, and am setting aside savings for the trip. I don't have any real limitations on who I would want to go with. I want to meet someone that I can depend on, and that can depend on me for whatever we need along such a journey.

I am curently in Quito, looking to buy a bike and head down to Argentina, leaving around 7 Dec (after Quito festivities).

Route will go through Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, northern Chile, Argentina (up to Mendoza). After that, we will see if I'll continue south to TDF. Depends on the mechanics.

I won't be doing much offroading, I prefer sticking to known roads. It also depends on the bike I buy. AnywayZ, I'll be visitng, doing some hiking,... I estimate the tour to last until end of January.

Will anyone be on a similar path or can hook up?

He's looking for a riding companion or a group to join at some point (vs going solo) He speaks Spanish FLUENTLY and is riding a 02 KLR 650.


* The plan is to be in Lima or Cuzco, Peru for Xmas/New Years holidays, and then head down towards Argentina/Chile from there mid-January.
