Hi,
My bike is a BWM 1200 GS ADVENTURER...
its a 2006 November model.

It's been running perfectly up until this morning when I was just about to go into Ecuador and its dead as a door nail.

Key points
1) Was working perfectly up until this morning
2) I just parked to get my passport stamped
3) Came out put the key in... nothing...
4) If I leave it for a while and try and turn it on the lights on the ignition display come on....note there is no errror code...but as soon as I press the starter it just dies totally...totally absolutely nothing on the display and it stays like that for a good few minutes
5) I tried jump starting it... no joy...if just makes a noise like its just about to start the process of turning over and dies......

Help!!!!!!!! the bike is stuck between ecuador and Colombia in no mans land!!!

What calipers fit?

Hi guys, finally managed to get my winter project running took the calipers off today with the intention of a strip and refurb only to find that they are both siezed and corroded beyond repair as well as both having the bleed nipples sheared off!:(

Does anyone know of any alternative calipers that fit the 90's XT600e?

Ive had a trawl round the forum but havent found a definative answer.
I understand that a DTR 125 rear caliper fits but cant find any mention of an alternative front caliper.

Cheers

Anyone who was in Goa (bike rental advise)

I’m going to Goa and planning to rent Enfield for 3 weeks. I reviewed many post, many comments but didn’t find any with address or phone number of worth recommending place.
Does it mean there are hundreds of good motorcycles rentals? No problem to find Enfield?
Can anybody recommend any rental?
Please advise!

Thx,
Michal

I rang Carol Nash (brokers) regarding bike insurance for morocco.

They mentioned
Group Armour have cover - no premium/additional for travelling to Morocco
Aviva Premier bike charge 10-£18 (depending on length of stay) on top of the cover price
Zenith have 3rd party only in Morocco and charge £30 for th trip (2 weeks)
Aviva Paramount have 3rd party only and charge £10-20 on top of their normal premium (depending on length)

Cancellation policy's for group armour are £25 if cancelled within 14 days so would this mean you can get the insurance, ride in morocco for 2 weeks and cancel the policy then rely on your 'normal' insurance in Europe? is it illegal to be over insured?

longer dates for cancellation are within 1 month if premuim was £200 you would get 200-70 = 130*0.75 = £97.5 so a similar price to seperate cover in Morocco (90 euros)

Locations and distances for fuel: Bariloche to Ushuaia

I took the route from Bariloche South on *Ruta's 40/20/26/3* and made a note of gas stations on route. All stations listed below were big YPF or Esso stations unless otherwise stated.

Gas is available at El Bolsen and Esquel after that here are your choices after that with distances between each:

*Esquel*
180km
*Gobernador Costa*
250km
*Sarmienta*
72km
*On Ruta 26 to Comodoro Rivadavia*
68km
*Comodoro Rivadavia*
68km
*Caleta Olivia*
78km
*Fitz Roy*
132km
*Tres Cerros*
137km
*San Juan*
120km
*Comandante Luis Piedrabuena*
There is a small gas station 102km from CLP but I wouldn't rely on it for gas, so...
233km
*Rio Gallegos*
286km
*San Sebastian*
72km
*Rio Grande*
There's another small gas station at Lago Escondido, 163km from Rio Grande, again I wouldn't rely on it, so...
209km
*Ushuaia*

If taking *Ruta 5* from *Rio Gallegos* to *Calafate* there is a gas station 140km from Rio Gallegos at *Esperanza*, Calafate is a further 162km away. There is a small gas station that I wouldn't rely on for fuel 80km from Rio Gallegos on the way to Esperanza.

Riding into the wind from Rio Gallegos to Calafate I consumed 25% more fuel than riding the other direction so factor this into your calculations because you never know how windy it'll be down here.

Oh, and if you're riding from Rio Gallegos to Ushuaia it's easily possible in one day. My advice is to leave before 8am to get ahead of the busses that might slow you up at border corssings. I think the busses leave Rio Gallegos at 8:30am.

Good luck.

I'v got today info from Tenezrouft about my schedule of visit in Algeria.
They told: south is safe, but in north is unsafe and we have to keep main roads and no wild camping.
However in algerian embassy told: you can drive without guide in north.
So what do you think about dangerous in Algeria. I was in many african and asian countries and I underestand what mean "dangerous", but I don't know what to think about this??
I really think that Marocco is more "unsafe" that Algeria.
First time in my life in Tunesia I have attempt of burglary in my car (only car lock damged). If this is usafe it is no problem.
Please help me friends.

In October 2009 I did a trip around Tasmania, Australia on a 06 Kawasaki VN 250 Eliminator and this is the link to my blog Fab's Motorcycle Trip to Tasmania (http://fabsmotorcycletriptotasmania.blogspot.com/)

I did the return trip from my home on the NSW Central Coast to Tasmania and back in 20 days and covered a distance of 4300 km.

After riding for a few days down the Hume Hwy on my way to Melbourne, the twisty roads of Tassie where a very welcome change and the scenery was almost just as good!:thumbup1:

After docking in Devonport in the morning at 6.00 am and disembarking by 6.30am I started to make my way through the north coast of Tasmania.
Riding through the beatiful costal towns of Ulverstone, Penguin, Burnie and Wynyard to finally reach Stanley were I spent my first night under a Tasmanian sky.

Stanley is an old historic fishing town with a lot of charm. The main road in town is full of 19th century buildings that really take you back to what it would have been like when early settlers first came to this island.

A visit to the local cementery really brings it home when you see all the headstones with lots of children and young people dying from dease and accidents.

But the thing you can not miss is the main attraction of the town, and that is "The Nut". The Nut is this huge rock outcrop that is visible for miles around and the best way to discribe is like this....It's Uluru by the sea.

It's got it's own chair lift that takes you to the summit and it is a must if you're in town I reckon.
