Worclaw to Amsteram
Ok, we've been round most of Europe on a quick drive around and we're now in Worclaw, Poland. Looking at the map we're a bit stuck for which way to go next. We've only got a week left before my passengers visa expires and we want to head now towards Amsterdam and finish up there. We were just going to head towards Posnan but one Polish city is a lot like another and we're a bit fed up with city-hopping and navigation. We'd much rather do some countryside but there doesn't look to be much worth seeing between these two points. We were thinking of heading through Berlin but in the cold light of day being stuck in traffic in a city (again) doesn't really appeal to us. Any suggestions on seeing some slightly different stuff on our way back? We're equipped for camping if that makes a difference.

Head for the Czech Republic.
Great mountain roads. It won't take ou much out of your way. Rory:thumbup1: |
Nooooo. Just came from there. You're not wrong though, I'd gladly turn round and head back. Lovely country. We only have a month (my partner is Thai and we battled hard to get this visa and we want to go to as many places as possible).

Try Saxony
Have a potter round the Saxony region of East Germany. It's very rural, lowly populated and there are a host of beautifully restored castles (Colditz, for example).

if you came from poznan you could also take in the the countryside of brandenburg.. then loads of lakes further north in mecklenberg (google neustrelitz / muritz).. it's a very quiet area without many tourists.. lots of nice places to swim given that the temperature is topping 30 degrees today.. can rent a boat for a day kinda thing. last suggestion would be the harz mountains.. check this place out.. Biker-Hotel Harmonie, Bad Grund (Harz) - motorbikes, guided tours, beer bar and more have fun. |
Roads can be hellish in Poland, but from Poznan you can take the few motorways most of the way to Berlin. Poznan also has a nice old town. The ride north is dull though, unless you take minor, minor roads, then they can be poor quality and tough to navigate.
