what's there to see in Luxembourg?

Planning a little loop round Europe and will be going west to east through Luxembourg (at the moment the south of it but no real reason why).

We'll probably stop over night somewhere in Luxembourg, can anyone recommend the best place to stop or things to see on the way through?

Just nice if you're collecting passport stamps really.

Head up to larochette and vianden in the north by the german border, vianden has a superb castle and the roads are great, twisty and traffic free.
Esch-sur-sure is picturesque as well, happy riding.
Grand Hotel de la Poste http://www.bookings.org/static/img/3sterren4.png
11, Place Bleech, L-7610 Larochette , bike friendly hotel:thumbup1:
p.s north luxembourg is about 1hour from the nurburgring as well, thats worth a look...

There is more in Luxembourg

Beaufort has a nice castle too, with a real torture room. I'm glad I'm not a prisoner in the middle ages :-)
"Little Switserland" is nice too, if you like hiking
Luxembourg has some very nice roads to ride on a bike. I like the road from Larochette to Echternach very much but there are many more nice roads.

Last but not least, fuel prices are much lower in Luxembourg then in the surrounding countries.

Petrol stations, an ice cream, and then move on.

can't believe no one has suggested this place:

one of the highlights according to the Luxembourg Tourist Board website :(

Many people, myself included, blast through Luxembourg on their way to other places.

On my last trip, I made a point of stopping and spending a couple of days there. Very nice riding. Buy a Luxembourg map and stick to the back roads. South of the capital is mostly farmland but the road along the Moselle is nice.

As mentioned above, the area between Larochette and Echternach is nice and continue on to Wiltz before heading back to the capital. North of the capital city is probably the best for motorcycle riding. Dark, cool forests with curvey roads. You can spend a few days and never leave Luxembourg :) You can spend a day off the bike walking around the city, visiting the castle and the museums.

Luxembourg

Agree with orson, everywhere has something to offer, even if it's a bad experience.:thumbup1:

Go to the Eiffel

Hi there,

Of course there is lot's to see in that area. Vianden with its castle is a visit more than worth. If you arrive there and are looking for a place to sleep I know a good campingsite. I go there often on my biketrips from Holland. follow the road with numer 51 to Bitburg and you'll come to a place called 'sinsplet' Here you 'll problably find roadsigns for the campingplace. It is a bikerfriendly campingsite where you can also rent a small caravan for the night. This is nice if it gets cold later in the year. Nice people there, campfite possible, good food and not to expensive. tis is not an add or something, I have good experiences there myself!
Here is the weblink!

Tell them 'Bootsman' send you and maybe the give you a free beer on your arrival!

Thanks Mat, Looks like we'll be going via Lac de la Haute Sure to somewhere near Vianden as an overnight stop so that campsite could be just the job.

Not sure if the folk saying it's not worth stopping have actually been.
Some great areas to see and worth the diversion.
Even without any guidance I'd say head for the hilly bits and you WON'T be dissappointed. Small but pleasant destination.
