Want to start in Greece?

Hey fellow riders!

This is a bit of an odd post, but I have a bike in Thessaloniki, Greece (an Africa Twin from 1992) which needs a garage or rider.

Its a long story but basically the company I was working for out there sent me to the States (where I'm from) and then went out of business leaving me stranded back here, and separated from my bike back there. I won't have the money to go back and get it until this spring/summer so I'm looking for a place to either store it or someone to ride it for the winter.

If anyone is interested, just send me a pm and we can discuss details (like free use if you cover maintenance or something) but let me give you some basics -

As I said its an Africa Twin (pictures can be found at JUST-GO) which has been my home for over a year as I travelled all over Europe and the Middle East. Its well outfitted for adventure travel with H&B panniers, a lockable tool trunk, tons of maps, spair parts, tools, a tent, cook set, plenty of random camping gear, good motorcycle leathers (a Shift jacket, and padded kangaroo pants), gloves & helmet - really everything you need!

Having spent a lot of time all over that area, I can give TONS of recommendations - routes, people to stay with, etc. for a trip pretty much any direction you want to go.

If your interested, hit me up and we can talk about some details, but this is a bike meant to be ridden not sit idle in a field so I'm sure we can work something attractive out

Thanks!
Tim

Hi Tim,

I'm based in Belgium and also travel with a 92 Africa Twin,

I'm more than happy to look after it for you, I have dry safe storage. Take a holiday in Greece ride it to me, its around 1500 kms if you take the ferry (comfortable 3 – 4 days).

My wife and I can help with accommodation and getting you to the airport. In the past we've helped organize various HUBB activates here in Belgium. Is the bike on Greek plates ? if so there isn’t a problem with customs. Belgium is well situated for future trips.

Drop me a email if it helps matthew point mason at riverwoods point net or post a reply here…

Kind regards
Matthew

I am in Frankfurt now. I am interested. I have been looking at options for bike touring as was going to head to India as I assumed winter in Europe would not be feasible.
If you can set me in the right direction for touring around Greece and the Middle East etc I will come to a fair arrangement with you on the bike financially.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
