Cool Ukrainian Roads

If you want to enjoy the authentic home-made Ukrainian roads that we know and love before they become extinct, I advise you to enjoy them before 2012.

By 2012 (because of, and in time for Euro 2012) Ukraine plans to build more than 800 km of new roads, modernise over 560 km and repair 2,900 km.

The traditional authentic rural potholed Ukrainian riding experience will soon be lost forever. What's next Kazakhstan paving the Highway to Hell across the desert?

Slowly but surely they're taking the adventure out of adventure motorcycling

Kazakhstan was rather busy paving it's highways in 2007 already. I bet this year there will even be a bridge over the Volga river that brings you from Russia to Kazakhstan.

Although it takes away much of the fun, after being forced driving on parallel tracks for miles, with a fresh and smoothly finished road only meters away, it's joy when they finally let you on it.

Indoor?

Yup,

In a few years time we'll have to go 'indoor adventure riding' with all sorths of road surfaces and ex-black top layed out in a hall. Off course there will be a track suited to your level of experience... .

Rob

The first one will be built in Dubai next to the indoor ski slopes!

Thereafter, it will expand into the latest bike sport to be run in indoor arenas within the western world - basically anywhere that punters will turn up and watch with their minds parked in neutral.
An annual event for the International Motorbike Show in the UK National Exhibition Centre methinks.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
