Ukraine/Krym: Arabat Tongue
Does anybody have any info about the Arabat Tongue (Arabats'Ka Zatka?), a 110km long sand spit in the west of the Sea of Azov, some 150km NE from Yalta? Garmin World map says there's a road or path and on satelite pictures it looks like there's one also. Is there a road/pist/path? Any restrictions or problems? Conditions? Anyone ridden that bit? Any info appreciated...
Thanx, Kudi ------------------ Ride Your Dreams

When I was in Odessa, Vlad Litvinov told me there's not much to see there. It's a 70 mile stretch of boring gravel road between water, water, sand, and more gravel.

Hi Ghorian. Hmm... gravel, sand, water and even more gravel... doesn't that exactly sound like what I'm looking for
No, seriousely, did you hear if it is actualy rideable? And if yes, what about difficulty, e.g. long, soft sand parts? Thanks, Kudi ------------------ Ride Your Dreams [This message has been edited by Kudi (edited 27 September 2005).]

I don't know anything beyond Vlad's comment that I quoted. The Crimea map I have looks like it's a somewhat usable road:
http://coolhaus.de/misc/crimea-map.jpg Have you been on the crimea before? My opinion is, there is not much to see north of the Evpatoria-Feodosia line. http://coolhaus.de/iv/05/iv.php?widt...xl-crimea3.jpg It's rather flat and uneventful north of that line. Get to the south quickly, spend more time there. -- Greg N. http://hothaus.de/greg-tour/ |
