UK bike in Ireland for a year...

I seem to have got a job in Dublin which will mean moving there for just under a year. Can anyone tell me how long I can keep my UK reg'd bike there before some sort of paperwork trouble begins?
Since my address will be in Dublin I guess I'll need ROI insurance from day 1. Any pointers as to possible red-tape issues gratefully received...

You should be able to avoid re-registering and swapping your licence if you are a temporary resident. Take a look at this govt website
Temporary Exemptions for Foreign Registered Vehicles

Be prepared to draw the attention of local police if you ride a UK registered bike for any length of time in Ireland. The police have become more diligent about enforcing the import laws - and importation tax - due to high number of drivers who were flauting the law.

Hi, you can ride on yellow plates for up to one year after that you will have to register it as an Irish bike for a fee....................

As for insurance stay with your UK ins company, I have a mate from Wales that has been living here for five years, still insured in Wales and still on yellow plates, if you want to keep everything above board, give your insurance company a call and get a definitive answer:thumbup1:
