It’s with great pleasure that SpeedFerries can once more welcome motorcyclists aboard

As you may recall, the carriage of motorcycles was halted because of the inefficiencies of securely lashing the cycles onboard. After an extensive, global search, a solution that allows us to safely carry motorcycles once more has been found right here in the UK.

Hitchlugger, a small niche company, was founded by motorcycle enthusiast Geoffrey Kendall. Having grown his business by making Motorcycle Carriers for other enthusiasts, Geoffrey was delighted to come to Dover and adapt his product for SpeedFerries. Ideally suited for the fast craft, the carrier enables motorcycles to be stowed speedily and securely during all weathers.

Introductory £15 per crossing!

The new carrier systems will be in place 5 November 2007 and are already available to book online. Book now at introductory prices starting from just £15 per crossing for travel throughout 2008, there couldn’t be a better time to secure your trial of the new system.

This is good news; I liked the service and the price.

It is good the have a crossing that doesn’t make you jump through hoops to get a good price. It is great for an extended trip because you don't have to book a return, just go on the internet and book a ticket when you're ready to come back.

I used P & O this year £51 return and they now make securing the bike the responsibility of the owner. No problem for me and I actually prefer that responsibility.

Good news indeed.
Unlike Steve I managed to severe my rear brake hose when I tied my own bike down on a P&O trip to Hull earlier this year .... DOH ! Came off the ramp of the ferry to find I had no rear brake .... yikes ! lesson learned to be more careful when tieing ropes around my bike.

OK. All very interesting ... but ... (I should add here that I hail from Yorkshire) ... how do I get a 15 quid crossing? I just tried the dates I want in June next year, both on Saturdays, and got £22. I tried Fridays and got ......£22. Where's this 15 quid deal then?
PS It might be me ... my middle name's Meldrew!
PPS Ok ... I admit it ... £22 is still cheap.

On a serious note, maybe the hike in the price of oil has caused the massive increase from £15 to £22. Bite the bullet geoffcrowther, sell a pigeon, then use the proceeds on a ferry crossings

oh this sounds a bargain. im planning an open ended trip to europe in january onwards so this would be a good place to start.

I've just tried getting a quote and there are some £15 prices available for New Years eve (that was used as a random test run); there are not many tickets available at this price according to the rules of the ferry company because this is the basic service and they restrict the number of tickets sold at this price - thereafter it is either £20 for a flex ticket or, even, £25 for the premier service which incls priority loading and unloading + free tea & newspapers in an exclusive lounge area on board. All prices are one way and the return service costs exactly the same. 3 ferries per day in each direction at this time of year with more running in the summer.
Nice thing is that they take only cars, bikes and similar, so loading and unloading should be very quick (only have to be there 45 mins before departure).
Can't complain at that!

Their not running from 8-31 Jan 08 for their annual maintenance period.
Get in early and come back in Feb?!

having put brain in gear ive realised insurance needs renewing late january. so it now looks like a febuary departure
