Turkish Motorcycle Insurance (Ibrahim Khalil border from Iraq)

Crossing from Iraq to Turkey at Ibrahim Khalil crossing next week. Does anyone have recent experience of buying insurance on Turkish side? I'd prefer to buy online or over phone in advance but cant find any current advice. Many thanks… Charlie

To answer my own question, I crossed on Monday evening and insurance was available for 25 euros for three months m'cycle cover from a booth on lane 35 on the Turkish side.

This was a damn good deal compared to when I entered Turkey from Bulgaria at Aziziye Sinir Kapisi in Jul-17 when I was charged over 100 euros for the same. I knew it was a scam but I had no choice... lose five hours going to another crossing or pay the extortion!

Kurdistan is fascinating but a bit warm in July... high 40s most days.

Yes, 100 eur fee is illegal, and it was a fake one.

Turkey i fighting hard to reduce this because of the claims amounting to crazy 600 mln eur in last 5-6 years i think.

I would be interested to ride 5 h to pick the real one, because with fake one you have just managed to enter the country and if something bad happens then you're not covered and you can go to jail straight away.
