Hello all
I am touring Albania and the former Yugoslavia in August on my BMW R 80RT next month. I hope to be staying in hotels or guest houses. What currency should I take? Should I risk using my bank cards? Can I use Euros?
Thanks in anticipation.

Euros are generally well accepted, but outside the exchange bureaux a more disadvantageous exchange rate is applied. keep in mind that if you exchange your euros for the local currency you'll hardly be allowed to do the contrary (the same happens with other strong currencies such as pounds or dollars) . It happened to me in Croatia, one of the most advanced countries of the ex-Yugoslavia. Some will say that you can exchange your local money back at the border, don't trust them, that's not true. That said, i suggest you to stick to euros.
many places don't accept CC, even in the most touristic spots, and I won't use it lightly too.

Bring Euros and exchange as you need in banks only! Most of them work even on Saturdays. Worked for me last year. Albania is a great country of extremes and the people are very friendly - have a blast!

I was there last summer and always took money from the ATM. No problems at all...
