the Pyrenees
hi guys, can anyone advice on some good roots and campsites through the Pyrenees, we are ariving in Bilbo and making our way down toward the south cost of France.

any ideas?

Last year I did a trip along the spanish side.. mostly on the n240 and n260. With a detour to Viheila. was great ride, but you do need to stay awake

I did a similar trip in May.
The N240, N260, N152 route along the spanish side to the coast is a classic. Very little traffic and some fantastic mountain roads. Stop off in Andorra if you need any biking kit - tax free and fairly cheap.
It's worth spending a day or two on the Costa Brava - some great coast roads to explore. If you want a day off the bike Barcelona's worth a visit.
You can then follow the coast into France, or if the weathers good and you've got time head inland a bit and take in the area around Millau. THe weather wasn't so great when I was there, so I had a look at the Viaduct and turned back towards the coast. I was running short on time so I hit the autoroute for a couple of hours to get to Cannes. The next day I started heading home via the N85 Route Napoleon up to Grenoble, another classic biking route.

Hi Dave

Crossed from France to Spain via Andorra through the Pyrenees last year...absolutely magnificent riding to be had! The road up to Pas de la Casa (although I've done it previously a few times by car) is awesome on a bike and we found great cheap camping just on the other side of the valley in Soldeau.

From there we rode to Barcelona, easily doable in a day. Also agree with MarkLG, the area around Millau is gorgeous (and you have to go just so you can say you've been over "that bridge". Monistrol d'Allier is beautiful and tranquil and stuffed with legends (and sculptures) of Werewolves! And if you've got the time definately, definately ride the N85 Route Napoleon.

Dont miss it!

Get up on to the French side, the D918, plenty of crossing points. Campsites on French side are plentiful and to a good standard (as all French sites are)

Was there a couple of years ago and we camped near the Town of Sort. It's a great location to explore the Pyrenees and no matter which direction you go you'll have fantastic roads to enjoy. If you go to Sort buy a Spanish lottery tocket because they have sold the winning ticket more times than any other place in Spain - I think they have had something like 6 jackpot winners recently so give it a go - you might be lucky

Well if i saw this post before i would have given you the address of my cousin who runs a campground in the french Pyerenees (Ariege) south of Toulouse. He loves dirt biking.
