Passing Kosovo - Any suggestions?

Hello riders!

I'm in Sarajevo (BIH) at the moment and after entering Serbia I was thinking about riding across the Kosovo for a while, before entering Montenegro and Albania.
Does somebody has experiences in there? I think my green card which is valid for Serbia, also applies in here!??
Are there still places to avoid in the Kosovo or behavior which can be critical or sth. else??

Of course, all my friends (in Germany!) still keep saying: "NO!!! Don't go there, it's dangerous!" and so on...
But I belive most of the people there just want to live their live, like we do, as well!?

Any suggestions? before I will enter in appr. one week. Maybe a good campside? or biker-friendly places?

Ciao Alex

Never been there, but at least a few years back, Kosovo was not in the Green Card-system, I don't know if it's changed, or maybe could somehow be added to your existing policy, but that's something to check.

And remember border insurances only get you the legal minimum, so worst case scenario in a serious accident is that you still pay practically everything except your own personal damage, that should be covered by your travel insurance (also worth checking that).

Find new friends. It's a pretty little country with friendly people, some sights to see and good riding along the border with Montenegro. Insurance, if you buy it, is cheap--I entered from Serbia and the UN troops manning the border didn't require anything. I later was accosted by Kosovo police but they let me off following an amr-waving sign-language conversation about Kosovo nationalism and Serbian intransigence.

I was there for just a few days. I remember hotels being somewhat limited and expensive, in addition to doubling as brothels in the time-honored manner of hotels wherever there are UN actions going on.

Hope that's helpful.

Mark

they have their own on border payable insurance, but sometimes they will let you sometimes you will pay, no actual border , just a ramp, boxes or something with mixed un and local police, pretty easy going place, beleive me, you will have no problems there just stick to the main roads, and people are glad to see somebody coming ,

of course exclude every single question about political issues, status, sebia and kosovo conflict and stuff
