Stuck in Siberia! Urgent request about Russian Custom procedures !

We are 2 German bikers travelling from Germany to the US via Vladivostock.
Right now we since one week got stuck in Kemerobo / Sibiria with a broken rearshock on one of our bikes. Basic help is given to us by totally great local russian bikers.
Yet the Problem was neither to be solved by local repair nor by quite unsatisfying BMW-service.

Our problem pretty soon might be, that the new parts we ordered from our local German dealers and which are express shiped by DHL to a local businessadress here in Kemerobo could undergo Russian customs procedures ways from our influence in Moscow.
We are only likely to find out today what the story about the shippping then will be.

In case things DO get stuck with the russian customs in Moscow, does anyone of you know how to handle the custom procedures or maybe knows a preferably English, german, spanish or french speaking contactperson to call and maybe help us out, as we have heard and read continously, that this seems to be a really difficult thing including unknown amounts of russian forms to fill in !!!

Any information about the issue is urgently and highly welcome and appreciated !

I was there in may and had a tough time to get my car out. I had good help though.

Isn't Discovery Travel Club in Vladivostok?
These guys are in Kemerovo, on the other side of the country.
I don't think that they can be of much help on the other side of the country. That is thousands of KM away!
Trucking to Novosibirsk may be a better option. I think there is a decent motorcycle shop there. I can't remember the name, though.
The No Name Brotherhood bikers club in Novosibirsk is also helpful.

I was in Mongolia and met a Kiwi named Ian...he had a KTM that had steering head bearings fail on him between Chita and Vlad. He chose to order them from NZ via DHL and it ended in a royal mess 1500 Euro and three weeks later, he got them

He was told by the DHL guys that the Vlad customs needed some clearance paperwork filled out and taxes on imported stuff...X amount of Euro...a week later...he was told the same story and Moscow customs need Y amount of Euro for paper work an importation tax.

Bottom line shipping into Russia is very risky, and if it all possible, have a local business that does it regularly import it for you. I know this note may not help you, but its worth a warning to future travellers that some parts are worth carrying or paying the local premium instead of importing.

Hello everybody in the Hubb and sorry for late answering and double postings.

Things got solved mainly by WP Germany efforts sending us a new shock declared as low value (below 100 USD) second hand spring, thus sending through German UPS to a private office Adress in Moscow, from where it was frorarded to biker friends in Kemerobo !

No Customs, no Problems, 10 days incliuding 3 days delay in Moscow.

THIS ist he place to declare , that the Russian Bikers are simply the most fantastic people on this earth !
They offered so much unbeleivevable help to us we simply neverever can describe by words.
Since we entered Siberia and the far east we are moving under a protection shield of the bikers here - not only supplying us a second time with spares on the way, when 10 Iron Tigers welcomed us in rainy Chabarowsk !

NO - when I got hit on the and blown unconscious from my bike 3 days ago by a 20 cm treetrunk falling over the street at 80 km / h to Vladivostok during a storm,
these guys collected first me from the road, unconscious for 5 Minutes and took me to Neurosurgery, where I had to stay for 3 days. Then they alltogehther started their bikers network, mainly Russian Samurais, Red Bikers and Iron Tigers plus incredible freeriders like Ruslan, PAulina, Friedirch and Julya and started Fixing my bike and the paneers, that were totally gonne on the right side .
Wherever a biker has the cahnce to meet and help a russian Biker - please do not hesitate to help them - they are the finest peopple and biggest hearts on earth you will meet !

Thank you Russia for making this trip so unforgettable for us !!:thumbup1::thumbup1:

There can be little doubt that Russians in general and Siberians in particular are among the finest, most generous, most unselfish and giving people I have ever met.

I second the idea that whenever you meet a Russian biker travelling round the world, go out of your way to help them. I guarantee they would do the same and more for you.
