Good luck with your SS1000 trip.

I think it is hard enough to do in the summer on highways so I am not sure how you intend to keep up the overall pace on ice and snow as well as combat the cold and bad weather.

But in my view you set yourself challenges to try and achieve them. Whether you actually achieve them is secondary to actually making the attempt.

Best of luck and let us know the outcome whatever it is.

Steve

Thanks a lot.
It's challenge that's why we are going.:funmeteryes:
Yes we know it will be really hard and we are most concern about weather if it's to cold it's really hard to keep up average speed. Even we have made modifications on bikes.
Never the less in that case we any how cone do SS 1000 but time limit of 24h can run out and then we must try it again other time.
:oops2:
Keep thumbs up.
You can check out the current weather on my WEB page Weather Cams.
:palm:

Have been working with bike and testing gears. Right combination of clothing is quite hard to find but getting there. When temperature is changing from -20C to +5C and you are apple to use only one combination because you don't have time to chance them you must be sure what you use. There will be more on my site later. :scooter:

See, I've always known that Scandinavians must be crazy but you, Sir, have taken it to the next level! Congratulations on achieving something absolutely remarkable. I did ride my bike at -12°C but only around town - short distance, low speed. Cannot possibly imagine to do that on ice for 24h straight.

Capo Sakke 16 Feb 2010 06:06

Thanks a lot mj,

It was hard physical and quite wearing because cold climate gives you an extra experience for riding and we just want to prove that it's attainable.
You can probably compare that to full Triathlon performance were you are burning more energy on cold climate than you have time to eat and drink.
So I lost 3 kg / 24 h so if somebody want burn fat that will do it. :thumbup1:
You also need to have experience of riding on snow and icy grounds with stud tires. There was only 8 hour day light onroute so riding in dark only view of your own driving lights beam and possible reindeer's on the road shoulder what you can't see gives you an extra spice for riding.
Okay we had put the limit there it's your turn to rewrite the record. :welcome: 1000 miles less than 24 hour coldest time of the year in Finland crossing Arctic Circle north and south bound onroute on different points and survive.

We are trying to do ICE BUTT again.

DUSTY WOBBLS has planed ICE BUTT event again to year 2011.

Year 2011 ICE BUTT Team has but more challenge on the event and we are looking for more extreme route how that will go on and what we can achieve?
We don't know yet but that we try to find out and we let you know the results.
Hopefully we can give you some new adventure of winter riding and improve our riding skills and share that information with all of you.

Capo Sakke 15 Feb 2011 13:16

OK We did it again 1614km 23h 45min
This year weather was extremely cold -28C but we survived partly some frozen bits etc. Lots of technical issues cause cold weather.
Route was from Nordkapp - Lahti - Joroinen

great achievement, It's lunatics like you who revive my faith in human nature:scooter:

I also love cold weather riding, it's truly addictive, the white stuff.

Capo Sakke 16 Feb 2011 04:38

Plan to write little summary of the event later.

Declan 17 Feb 2011 14:31

Hey Sakke, I agree with everybody else - You need :helpsmilie:!!
Your route is the same as we took from Nordkapp to your place (only we did it in +20) I wonder what is the windchill factor as you were riding along.

It wouldn't be possible to do that in Ireland but if you want to do 24hours in the pissing rain then this is the place to do it!!
:rain::stormy:
Think I'll do "WET BUTT 2012" right here at home!!
Here is what we have planned this summer...
