Spain in May/motoGP?

Just wondering about Spain in May, in general, as well as the questionable sanity of possibly including the MotoGP race at Jerez in the trip?
I understand the crowds are double what we see here in the US at AMA Superbike races! http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/smile.gif Would it be inadvisable, or not smart to think about camping in the infield?
(Or not allowed)
Also, would weather not allow traveling some of the mountain areas?
I'm thinking using the bulk of two weeks in Spain, and Portugal. Still working out details, but...what the heck....I'm thinking about MAY 2005!

I went to Jerez in 98 for the GP race. Incredible experience every race fan should have. No infield camping though. GP viewing is fairly distant unless you are seated along the straightaway. I came from Madrid via high speed train to Sevilla, then other train into Jerez de la Frontera. This is moto madness at its greatest. Tens of thousands of hardcore race fans. I had no arrangements and found none. I met some nice young kids and they let me camp w/them at the circuit. Its hardcore and its great. If you want a room then book WAY in advance. Jerez is the greatest GP experience bar none in the world. I rented a BMW 1100GS after the race in Madrid. I toured for 5 days all over Spain. Segovia, Avila, Toledo, Cordoba, Granada, Rhonda should not be missed...JUST DO IT!!!!!!!
