Shipping from Calgary to Frankfurt

Hi there,
i worked in Canada last year and then this tragic happend in my family so i'm going back home.
i will send my motorcycle from Calgary to Frankfurt with air Canada, they will charge me cca 1500CAD for that.
As i understand bike will just go on pallets not in box and i can leave side bags on bike...can I also leave tank bag on motorcycle?
I'm Croatian citizen on temporary work here in Canada, my motorcycle is registered in Alberta for one more year...what i need to do on customs in Germany to get some 'temporary import' paper? will i be able to ride from Frankfurt to Croatia? i don't have Alberta driving licence, but here in Canada/States i can ride on Croatian international.
How long will that last on Cargo/Customs there in Frankfurt?
Where to buy insurance for EU for month or three months?
i forgot to tell later i plan to make full import of motorcycle in Croatia and register it there.
Thanks on advices, like i sad i have very serious situation in Croatia, so i did not have much time to prepare, probably i will find cheapest way of transport otherwise.

Also if someone know for some cheap hotel , room or something close to Frankfurt Airport that will be great

Thanks

You should look/ask at Zoll online - Startseite - this department is responsible for import/export-tax, etc. . On top you can swtch to the english version of the site. I think this is what you are looking for: Customs online - Temporary importation of a vehicle

And you can ride from frankfurt to croatia, but you should have a look at the weather-forecast, if you cross the alps -> at the moment it is just snowing (3 days ago we had almost 20°C). Although many of the small passes are still closed, the main-routes are usually in good conditon. But there can be restrictions, depending on wheather conditions.

that is my case:
If you are an EU citizen, you may, in exceptional circumstances, be permitted to import into the customs territory of the EU a vehicle that has been registered in a non-EU country and to use it here temporarily if

the vehicle is used occasionally according to the instructions of the person under whose name it is registered;
Condition: the person under whose name it is registered must be staying in the EU at the time it is being used;

there is an emergency;
Example: it had only been possible for a person to return from a non-EU country using a foreign-registered vehicle because that person’s own vehicle had broken down abroad
Condition: the non-EU-registered vehicle is re-exported within five days

the return to the EU took place using a rental company’s rental vehicle that is registered in a non-EU country;
Condition: the rental vehicle is re-exported within five days (or, with the consent of the German customs authorities, within eight days)

the private use of a company-owned vehicle is provided for in relevant agreements (such as a contract of employment).

Motosapiens emails you a scanned copy of the green card within 2 days and mails the hard copy anywhere you like. The hard copy took 2 weeks to arrive in Calgary....but I have heard from 1 rider( RTW Doug) that when he landed in Frankfurt with an American bike he used the scanned copy of the green card to receive his bike from customs and there were no problems.

One question, who is your shipping your bike? Your price quote is cheaper than Motorcycle Express quoted me to ship from Vancouver to Frankfurt. Thanks.
