there is a chat here about it but the general thought is no you will need a full licence however I would contact the dvla for a definitive answer

I think your answer is most likely to be no. The European directives on licences now cover all EU member countries with only some minor differences in the testing procedures. A cbt pass is not a licence, although you are covered by your full car licence Cat B to ride a bike up to 125cc 11kw, but only in your own country of residence and over a certain age ( it's 21 here in france). I think your min requirement would be to have passed a Cat A1 to enable you to ride outside the U.k.

A quick call to an insurance company would probably give you a good answer as well as the DVLA.

I agree with Pongo. In Germany, we don't even habe a CBT so in order to ride a 125cc bike up to 11kw you need the A1 license, anything bigger than that A license. I'm pretty sure German (replace German with any given European country here) police wouldn't even know what a CBT 125 even is.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
