Scotland (Isle of Skye)

Hi all,
I'm off to Skye this weekend!

I've been a number of times in the past and seen a fair amount of the place but I'm sure there's plenty more to discover.

So, do you have any favourite places, roads, sights etc? Any must see's I might not have seen?

I can't wait...!

Hi Crusty,

Dont know if you have been but if you fancy getting off the bike for a stroll then the cliffs around Neist Point are absolutely stunning. Head for Glendale on the B884 and i am pretty sure it's signposted from there. You can either go down to the lighthouse and back which is a fairly short walk, under an hour, or if you are feeling energetic then the views from the cliffs surrounding it really are amazing.

As with pretty much anywhere on Skye as you will know, the scenery on the ride there will be amazing, the roads quiet, winding and probably wet...

Enjoy

Trev

Harris and Lewis

Hey Crusty if you have an extra day or two take the ferry over to Harris (Uig to Tarbet) and explore the outer isles. The scenery is spectacular and the roads are amazing. You can then return via Stornaway to Ulapool. The ferry company "Calmac" are bringing their prices down as from this winter. Check out their web site. Happy riding. Donnie

Amazing region

The previous posters surely know more to help answer your question, all I can add is that I remember that visit on the island as one of my best travel memories of all time... ..and I was by car!!

When you'll be on that wonderful bridge, prepare yourself to be stunned once again by the beauty of that place..

I wish I could go there again!

Good times

Well, it was every bit as good as I remembered..!

Neist point is a favourite run, shame the lighthouse is closed to the public but the cliffs and the road make up for it.

In the South of the island the road to the Aird of Sleat and the loop through Tarskavaig and Tokavaig were new to me and a real treat, twisting, swooping single track in incredible scenery.

The (Im)famous Skye weather was predictably unpredictable, with a glorious day of sunshine followed by wind, rain and hail so appalling it was entertaining in itself..!
We covered over 500mls and still didn't see it all so gotta go back...in summer

Maybe do the Western Isles then too...

I'd post some pics if I could figure out how to get the file size down!

Thanks to all who responded.

open an account at photobucket & just copy the yellow code below the pic called 'IMG tag' to your posts here. no worries about picture size then & works on any forum. oh & its free.

or download pixresizer which will make you small copies of your pictures & is dead simple to use. thats free too.
