Is it safe to go back to Norway as a wanted man?
 

Someone I know :oops2: whilst in Norway, in the summer of 2013, parked in the Oslo ferry car park didn't see the Ticket Board/Machine and thought it to be a free car park while waiting to board the ferry...BUT...

...when he went back to his bike someone had placed a long narrow, yellow, parking ticket onto the bike :nono:

He went to the ferry ticket office and asked the (very pretty) girls at the reception and they were experienced in the company that deal with this (possibly QPark?) and said that they were more of a nuisance than anything...SO...

...as some people there have said "...just say it wasn't on the bike when you got there..." type-of-advice :innocent: In other words, he didn't pay it :sweatdrop:

QUESTION: When said friend goes back to Norway, maybe next year will the bikes registration come-up on the Police radar as to be pulled-up for non-payment of said fine or will things have expired and/or forgot in time...? :helpsmilie:

No. You have been fined by a privately owned parking company, not the police or any other official party. The parking company could drag you to court over it, but then you should have heard something from them by now. They'll easily track you down in the UK if they want to.

So welcome back. You are at no risk of any kind by returning. Just make sure you don't have a similar brainfart with speeding. The fine you'll get for that will be a lot more than that parking ticket, and that claim won't go away. Too fast and you'll end up with your license revoked on site and in jail... If the death penalty is ever re-introduced in Norway it'll be because of speeding or drunk driving, not murder ;-)

As above I think you will be fine, probably not worth their time to try and track you back to the UK unless it was a very expensive car park!

I too am on the run from the not so long arm of Norwegian justice. I " accidentally declined" to pay one of their exorbitant city traffic charges to cover about 2 miles to the ferry. Nothing ever happened and I've been back since. Don't worry, it's not like you are part of Russian Girl Band booked to play at the Olympics or anything :offtopic: :innocent:

Proper fines for speeding or drinking I think would get the proper Plod involved.

We have the same silly system here in Sweden, were private parking companies are controlling parking on private ground. As soon as you have Swedish "personnummer" they will find you and will force you to pay. This goes so far that courts, in case were the car owner had a bought a parking ticket, but the parking guard had missed it, he still had to pay the fine. Reason: the word of a parking guard goes above the word of a citizen! Unbelievable! Similar win margings will only be acchieved in drug dealing!

So as long as he doen't live in Norway and doesn't have a norwegian personnummer, you can tell your friend :cool4: that he is save!

In a fashion, yes, that too, but as the fine wasn't paid, I was kinnda wondering if their powers could reach over here in England, but, more importantly, if my bikes Reg' Number rings any alarms on any Police radar, would I be in deep :nono:

You mean your friend's bike reg, and that your friend might be deep in the doodoo, of course :-)
