Romania - no green card required?

Off to Romania and thereabouts in few weeks.
Know I'll need insurance from border for likes of Ukraine and Moldova if venturing there, but...
My insurer Carole Nash insists I DON'T need a green card for the Norwich Union insurance I have through them.
Apparently it's all been sorted between their governament and European Union and no green card required, however....have the police etc be told?
My insurance says 'all European Union Countries', but doesn't mention Romania - but does Iceland, Norway and Switzerland etc.
I suspect the fact Romania isn't written on it could be a problem
I guess the worst that can happen is getting a pull and having to sort it out down the station - which is a lot of b*ggeration.
I could also scan my certificate and modify to include Romania...if I were criminally minded obviously.
Anyone with practical knowledge / experience of the situation? Couldn't find anything on this specific problem on hubb.
Thanks in advance, Fritz ;)

Hey,
I rode thru Romania with insurance arranged by Carole Nash. Romania is covered as it is now part of the European family. Norway, Switzerland etc. are given specific mention because they are not. I had no difficulties at the Romanian or Bulgarian boreders.
By the by: I found Carole Nash to be an excellent broker for bike travels. They got me sorted when I broke down in Hungary. Arranged everything for me when I crashed my bike in a ditch in Norway and arranged insurance for me returning through Europe when my trip through Iran went pear shaped, despite it being officially 'against the rules'.

Matt :)

Thanks Matt that sounds good - and handy to know the breakdown cover works too ;)
Hopefully we won't need to argue the toss with the police, likely the issue will never come up I guess, but I was once asked for my green card in Poland many years ago and was at once pleased it said 'Poland' on it :)

I agree with all that.... Carole Nash were good for me, and my bike broke down too - although that was in Greece. I went thru Romania before they were in the EU and even then they had zero interest in the bike papers. The border police were very helpful and gave me priority treatment despite ripping a load of cars apart - luggage and seats all over the road....

+1 for CN, I've used them for years, had bikes shipped home, and had an oil pressure switch repaired by the mechanic they sent out, he nipped of home and took one off his tractor then fitted it to my wifes bike and would take no money:thumbup1:
