registering a bike in the uk from germany

Can anyone help me? I am thinking about buying a bike that was originally from germany but is now in the uk and is unregistered. How easy is it for me to register it and how do i go about doing it, prosuming there is no paperwork for the bike?? The bike is a 1998 zx6r (a weekend toy for when i'm not on the V-Strom.)

Go down the DVLA office and ask.. Theres one in every major city.

You will definately need a driving licience, insurance certificate for the bike(hard to get without a plate but can be done on the chassis number temporarily), and 2 forms of ID.

As its from Germany, you will probably need to get an SVA (single vehicle assessment) done by the DVLA to make sure its UK legal, unless you can get a COC (certificate of conformity) from the manufacturer !! VERY UNLIKELY.

As its from Germany, the speedo will be in KM and the lights will point the wrong way. You would have to get those sorted.

Do you have the German documents ???????????? That would make it much easier.
