Pyrenees (Spanish side)

Hi Folks

I'm heading from Santander to Andorra on the Spanish side of the Pyrenees in May, never done this area before and was just wondering can anyone recommend places to stay, see or maybe routes . I'm riding two up on an Africa Twin .

Thanks for any advice :thumbup1:

I have been in Pirineos a lot of times, and I try to go there every year at least one time.

You will find one of the best and beautiful roads in Spain. Some places you have to visit…

"El valle del Roncal" is around the Isaba village, you will find very close the Zuriza camping, a nice place to camp.

Jaca, is another "big" village that you can visit, have some nice places.

You have to go also to Biescas in order to take the Cotefablo Pass, a very, very nice road from Biescas to Torla. And the go to "Mesón de San Nicolas de Bujaruelo", one of the best places on the world to camp (the access is off road through a very nice valley). You must to visit the "Ordesa National Park" that is really near from this place.

Another good point it could be "Ainsa" a very nice village in which you could have a gourmet meal in one of the best restaurants in Spain, called "Callizo".

That is for now...

Wow, I visited all of those places first time I made a solo trip on my bmw, really enjoyed it. Was just following my paper map :).

Just one piece of advice, please test the temperature of the water before jumping into those crystal clear blue mountain rivers with the big trout. (don't ask)

Recommended this book before, Toby Ballentine's ''Motorcycle Journeys Through Western Europe''. Full of useful stuff, daily rides, places to see, restaurants and hotels. Whole section on both sides of the Pyrenees. My Bible for the whole of Europe

don´t forget visit ANDORRA the country pyrenees between France and Spain and FREE TAX COUNTRY with motorcycle accesories shops anywhere.
A typical thing what we do for complet the transpyrenees, is take a water bottle from Cantabric Sea and when arrive at other side of pyrenees just on Mediterranean Sea let out the water.
In my blog WWW.XTREMEMOTOTOURING.BLOGSPOT.COM I have some pics.

Yes I can also recommend The Spanish Bikers website along with Toby Ballentine's book, stayed in Spanish Pyrenees last Summer and based myself in Vielha in the Val'daran area, nice place and found some good, cheap digs in the Hotel Vielha, had some great rides out round the area (tarmac only for me mind) and a great biking holiday was had.
